Think Little CSA’s Week 12 Update: “The Gift Basket”

The first quarter will be coming to a close today. We’ve been providing 20 members–families, friends, students, community health workers, non-profit directors, independent record producers, baby wearers, weavers, home brewers, and so many other awesome things we get to know about each of you–with fresh vegetables for 12 weeks. You all, on the other hand, committed your hard earned fresh food dollars to a young beginning farmer family, doing your part to support the future of local family farms in a very real and meaningful way. As we take a little time off for the holidays, in between planning for 2015, we’ll be reflecting on the great gift that you all–collectively–have given us: to be farmers. We intend to, one day, provide other beginning farmers with the same opportunity we have been given by the Howell family and, of course, each of our CSA members.

We’ll be “off” for the next two weeks (resuming the 13th of January) to take a little more time than usual for friends and family, settling into our new home, attending the annual Fruit & Vegetable Conference of Kentucky, and catching up on other farm projects (there is never nothing to do). Because of the break, we’re leaving you with a few extra storage vegetables to get you through to next year. In your share this week: lettuce, tatsoi, collard & mustard greens, carrots, Fall squash, sweet potatoes, onions, & garlic.

Happy Holidays,
Jackson, Jordan, & Avery Rolett

Ps. Remember, if you plan on being a part of the CSA for the next quarter, the next payment is due by the 13th of January. If you don’t plan to continue, please let us know. Whatever you choose, thank you for spending the last three months with our CSA!
