String Explosion! is a week-long day camp for violin, viola, cello and double bass students ages five and up. The camp will be held in the Music Rehearsal Hall on the campus of Western Kentucky University. A minimum of one year of lessons or playing experience is required for students.
The camp focuses on orchestra and chamber music for violin, viola, cello and double bass students in kindergarten through 12th grade. Students will be divided into orchestras based on age and skill level. They will gain skills and improve their playing through a variety of activities including string orchestra, sectionals, group classes and outdoor games.
The final performance will be on July 26 at 11 a.m. in the Recital Hall of the Ivan Wilson Fine Arts Center. (Click #24 on the WKU Virtual Tour Map.)
Cost
- Early Registration: $70, Deadline – May 24
- Regular Registration: $85, Deadline – June 28
The cost of the camp includes a camp t-shirt, music and instructor fees.
