Mercadito Hispano’s Molcajete Salsa (Crushed Salsa) Recipe

Molcajete Salsa (Crushed Salsa)

Ingredients:
• 3 ripe tomatoes
• 1 jalapeño pepper (or more if you like heat)
• 1/4 white onion
• 1 handful of fresh cilantro
• 1 garlic clove (optional)
• Sea salt to taste (like Amorcito Corazón)

Instructions:
1. Roast the tomatoes, jalapeño, and onion on a hot skillet or comal until the skins are nicely charred (about 5–10 minutes).
2. Start with the chile and sea salt in the molcajete. Grind them together into a paste.
3. Add the garlic and onion. Continue grinding.
4. Add the tomatoes one at a time and crush until you reach your desired consistency.
5. Finally, mix in the chopped cilantro gently.

And that’s it! Serve with tacos, grilled meats, tortilla chips, or anything you love.
Nothing beats the authentic flavor of a handmade salsa from the molcajete.
