Pankaj Udhas is truly an artist who needs no introduction. Renowned the world over for his Ghazals with a voice sweet as honey and smooth as velvet, Udhas is an artist par excellence. He is credited with bringing Ghazals- the exalted form of Urdu and Persian poetry to the masses. With his first Album “Aahat” released in 1980, Pankaj Udhas quickly rose to fame both in India and internationally. His subsequent albums gave us the hits like “Aaiye Baarishon Ka Mausam Hai”, “Zara Ahista Chal”, “Ek Taraf Uska Ghar” and several other popular Ghazals.
His foray into Bollywood gave us one of his biggest hits ever- “Chitti Aayee Hai” which is particularly popular among immigrant Indians living all over the world. The captivating lyrics of this song rendered in the mellifluous voice of Udhas bring tears to the eyes of audiences all over the world every time he sings it.
He has more than 50 albums to his credit and has performed in cities and venues all over the world including the Royal Albert Hall in London. He has won numerous awards from the KL Saigal award for the best Ghazal singer in 1985 to the coveted Padmashree award in 2006. He is performing in Bowling Green at SKyPAC as a part of his “Heart to Heart” concert tour of the United States in 2013 August 11th at 5:00pm!
