It’s gonna be warm-ish today with some likely rain later on. Then we’re going to see cool mornings this weekend with warm afternoons. We’re pretty sure everyone is glad about that. Pollen and other spring allergens, on the other hand? Hooo boy. [WXorNot & YouTube]
Flock cameras don’t just track stolen cars, vehicles and the like. They’re also used to track innocent meemaws and poppops and are frequently abused – this is proven, not speculation, you can google it – by a handful of corrupt officials who abuse their spouses and others. It’s happened in multiple Kentucky municipalities in the past year alone. Keep them, fine, whatever, but at least be honest about what they are and how they’re abused. And quit it with the illegal, unconstitutional secrecy. This is not 1984 and if you want to track someone’s every movement, get a warrant and justify it in court. We support going after criminals, not treating everyone like a criminal. [WBKO]
The Flock system is so terrible that cities around the country have gutted their contracts and stopped working with the company. That’s not occurring in a vacuum, kids. You can google that, too, because we’re not gonna spend several pages explaining it. Want to report a Flock location? You can do that because it’s your right as an American. If you see it in public, you can talk about it. [DeFlock & Have I Been Flocked?]
Speaking of law enforcement and talking about things, let’s highlight something positive… one of the largest drug busts in Bowling Green history – really, we saw it with our own eyes – occurred Monday morning and there hasn’t been so much as a peep that’s useful in local media. WBKO was on-scene with cameras and they’ve done nothing. Other media outlets were there and, you guessed it, pretty much nothing. What gives? What’s with the secrecy and lack of effort? It’s all over social media and was allegedly a three-year-long investigation. Here’s hoping they keep these raids up and that media stops being so lazy. [Bowling Green Deserves Better Journalism]
Really, it’s wild that it didn’t get mentioned by any outlet for more than three days. That’s when this WNKY story appeared. And this is all they reported. It wasn’t a single home, it was multiple, they had more than a dozen people in handcuffs. Local, state and federal vehicles took over the entire neighborhood, clogging alleys, at least three streets, driveways and multiple church and business parking lots. To say that this is a local media failure is an understatement. There’s no reason a local restaurant and business blog should be providing better journalism than major media outlets. None. [WNKY]
You know they’re gonna build it first and ask questions later. While preliminary development plans for a proposed data center have gotten approval, legal challenges related to the project have come before a judge for the first time. [BG Daily News]
Did you know there’s more to food than soup beans and cornbread? Regardless of how you answer that question, you might want to check out The Food School’s Chinese cooking class this weekend. Because reasons. And those reasons? We all deserve to be full of tasty food and happiness. Salvadorian food is coming up in a couple weeks and trust us when we say you need to be making pupusas on a regular basis if you aren’t buying them from Mercadito Hispano. That’s also where you can also snag all the necessary ingredients and expertise. [Visit BG & The Food School]
Doesn’t matter what your politics are but please stop electing people like this, Kentucky. Former Governor Matt Bevin was held in contempt of court for disregarding a court order to produce his financial information in a legal battle with his estranged son. What these stories don’t highlight is that Bevin used his adopted kids as political props and then literally dumped them in foreign countries, as minors, because he no longer needed them for photo ops. We won’t even get into the Frankfort legislators pushing emergency bills to cover this all up for Bevin. [Kentucky Lantern & WKYT]
April has been declared Child Abuse Prevention Month in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. In a state where child abuse rates are double the national average, it might be a good idea for us all to do more than issue an empty declaration without substantive action. [State Govt PDF & WPSD]
Warren County Public Schools superintendent Rob Clayton scored a one-year contract extension at the most recent school board meeting. And if you need a chuckle, these people think there needs to be an “AI component” in early childhood education. AI, as it stands, is a glorified search engine and they think it’s immediately changing the world. Seriously, y’all have got to start electing better people so they hire better school administrators who’ll let our teachers actually teach. [BG Daily News]
Governor Andy Beshear was in town yesterday to attend the dedication of six new Habitat for Humanity homes that he had absolutely nothing to do with. Because Republican or Democrat, no Kentucky politician cannot skip a photo op and moment to steal the spotlight. And some of y’all still think fancy clowns (also known as drag queens) are the real problem. New homes for people who deserve them, though? Let’s all cheer for that and let’s make more of them happen. [Press Release]
Bardstown Bourbon is trying to hide a scandalous whistleblower complaint from the public. We repeat, Bardstown Bourbon is trying to hide a scandalous whistleblower complaint from the public. This is the billionaire-owned company that “influencers” use to pretend they have their own bourbon line. We waited a couple weeks to hype this up because they desperately want it all to disappear. That’s what you call shade 💅🏻. [Herald-Leader]
WKU Global hosted its second annual “Ohanami” celebration Wednesday afternoon in Centennial Mall. Light pink cherry blossom petals danced in the spring breeze, decorating the sidewalk while students mingled and ate free Japanese cuisine served by WKU Catering. [WKU Herald]
We’re gonna keep beating this drum because you’ve gotta pay attention to what’s occurring in your name locally. Start by checking out the March 24, 2026 Code Enforcement and Nuisance Board meeting. Your community is what you make of it. [YouTube]
