It’s Here! Buy Local Month 2018 Presented by BuyLocalBG.com! Here are the first week of events.

Buy Local Month 2018 is a shopping, arts and entertainment event from November 15th- December 15th. We wanted to give southern Kentucky the chance to take those local dollars during the gift giving season and keep them local (meaning with local merchants in southern Kentucky, Louisville and Middle Tennessee since we know traveling does take place for these shopping trips). The key is to find the non-chain stores and shop the small to medium businesses in our area. We are also during this month via Facebook and Twitter going to give HYPER-LOCAL giveaways (via social media) with local artists and businesses. Thanksgiving Meal Deals by Local Restaurants:

  • Christmas Decorations Needed– Each year, Ekk On The Hill want to help families beyond the normal toys and clothes. Donate your no-longer-needed Christmas decorations to a family who just doesn’t have the resources for those Christmas extras. Donations accepted through 12/1. Bring Sunday to service or Message us for drop-off information.
  • Any time in November The WKU Store and Southern Lanes will be accepting Toys for Tots donations for any folks who want to bring in a new toy for the cause.
  • A Culture Carried: Bosnians in Bowling Green at The Kentucky Museum– The Kentucky Folklife Program and the Kentucky Museum are pleased to offer A Culture Carried: Bosnians in Bowling Green. This exhibit is a partnership with the Kentucky Folklife Program’s Bowling Green Bosnia Oral History Project, the Kentucky Museum, and the Department of Folk Studies and Anthropology.

November, 15th Thursday-

  • Creative Interiors Christmas Kickoff Sale– This week starts the countdown to Christmas and Creative Interiors kicks it off with the Creative Interiors Christmas Kickoff Sale.   • Kids Day at SKyPAC– Each year SKyPAC invite area schools to enjoy a professional theatrical performance on the Main Stage, fulfilling our mission of “providing exceptional artistic and educational experiences”.  The students will also view the gingerbread house entries and vote for their favorite in the Kids Choice Awards!   For more information on the School Day Performance, contact Tiffany Deaton at 270-904-7009.
  • Lives of the Stars at Hardin Planetarium– Every Tuesday and Thursday at 7pm and Sundays at 2pm. Price: Free Looking at the Life Cycles of the Stars Stars go through a life cycle of birth, mid-life and death and their remains are recycled into the Universe. In this interactive show, the audience gets to select the stars whose stories we will tell and whose lives we will examine. Free of charge and suitable for all ages. 45 minute running time, with time for questions at the end of the presentation.   • Pet Envy ★ The A-Frame w/ The Young Romantics-11.16 // 9PM // 21+ – Music City’s Pet Envy is building a loyal fanbase through fun and inclusive live performances.   • Old Time Square Dance at The A-Frame-No experience or partner necessary. Come join us for an evening of music, community, and dancing.  Abby Huggins will be joining us to call all the way from Eastern Kentucky.Doors open 6:30 dance starts at 7 and goes till 9. Cost: $5 Cash.
  • Buckhead Square Fall Festival- Buckhead Square will be hosting a Fall Festival for all ages on November 17! There will be a live DJ, pumpkin decorating contest, bounce castle, face painting, and more!
  • Community Thanksgiving Dinner (Free)- Eleventh Street Baptist Church will host its annual “Let us Break Bread” free community dinner. We will have free dinners available beginning at 11am until the food runs out.
