The WKU Summer String Institute will be July 23 – 27, 2018.
This week promises to be a fun and exciting musical adventure for your children. As in previous years, we will have two sessions: Twinklers and Young Musicians.
Twinklers: 9:00am – 11:30am
- Violin and cello
- Students age 4 and older, beginner to Suzuki Book 2 level.
- Lead by WKU faculty members and guest artist teachers
- NEW THIS YEAR: Cello Twinklers
Young Musicians: 9:00am – 3:30pm
- Elementary to high school students
- Violin, viola, cello, and bass
- Students need to be comfortable reading the notes on all four strings of their instrument.
- String orchestra, group lessons, sectionals, music theory lessons and more
Additional Opportunities for Young Musicians
o Concerto Competition – open to ALL instruments, and all repertoire (subject to approval by the director)
o Chamber Music Intensive – student/faculty collaboration in a small group setting
o By audition only
