A Special Note from Community Farmers Market (remember to sign up on their website for updates):

With Spring comes the beginning of a new year for farmers markets. Community Farmers Market is thankful to be providing the Bowling Green area with fresh, healthy food and unique hand made items for what will be our 5th year! We started back in 2011 in a parking lot near south campus with a handful of loyal vendors and customers. Through hard work and determination, we renovated 2319 Nashville Rd. in 2013 and opened Bowling Green’s first year-round producer-only market. Because of successful community partnerships with folks like Western Kentucky University and Barren River District Health Department, we launched the mobile farmers market and a strong WIC/Senior/SNAP Double Dollars program creating fresh food access that put over $30,000 worth of fresh food in hungry homes and allowed small-scale farmers increased success. A few of our achievements include receiving the CRAVE Lexington Civic Agriculture Award, mentoring 5 rural communities on implementing farmers market outreach programs, receiving a USDA specialty crop grant, speaking at four national conferences and many state conferences, partnering with local business to distribute $3000 in fresh food through CFM Kids Club, and working with Dishman McGiness elementary students to create a SNAP farmers market PSA. This is just the beginning and we look forward to building on this success in the coming year. Most importantly, none of this would be possible without each of you-our loyal customers-who come back and shop with us week after week. Your commitment and sacrifices to make local food a priority has allowed so many the opportunity to follow their dream, and in the process, change our local food system.

From all of us at CFM, thank you!
