The last week seems to have revolved around finding our rhythm. The break was a good change of pace and it allowed us to finish/start several projects (though not all of the ones that were on the list), but I have to admit it threw us off. Our weeks are usually anchored by two harvest/market days and, without them, the week seems somewhat incomplete.

Farming year-round, especially within a CSA model, moves us steadily through the year. Though we, ourselves, may have “slowed down” by cultural standards, time surely has not. Growing vegetables for a living seems to have only made us more aware of the passing of time. The days may be long, but the weeks seem to fall off the calendar. Psychologists use the word flow, I call it the pace of good work.

That said, it’s good to be back in a rhythm again. Today, we’ll harvest for the Hickory Lane CSA, tomorrow we’ll spend the day “in town” which is still strange for me (because I’ve always lived in town), Sunday is our day of rest, and Monday we’ll be picking for you all. Next week, you’ll be getting: kale, chard, Asian greens mix (tatsoi & baby mustard), cabbage, sweet potatoes (2lbs), heirloom “sweet potato” squash, and an onion. Also, we’re going to leave a basket of garlic out during pick-up for you to take as much as you need (you’re welcome, garlic lovers).

Take Care,

Jackson, Jordan, & Avery Rolett

Ps. We have an opening for our CSA, but only one. If you know of someone who may be interested, please tell them to send us an email for more information.
