Get to know our poker faced, pun slinging, swashbuckling General Manager…Andrew Britton Simkins.
Andrew was born in Eskanaba, Michigan during the tail end of the most confusing decade in history…the 1980’s. After moving back to Kentucky, he never stayed in any place for too long but always considered Somerset, KY his home. Always being the smallest kid in school was the norm for him. He was always a year younger than all his classmates (due to skipping a grade) and was the tiny wristed target of many a taunting…until he got big. Very big. He was an avid reader, active in all of his schools marching and concert bands, and played way too many video games. Upon graduating high school in 2006, Andrew decided he wanted to be a teacher. He attended a community college in Somerset, KY and then transferred to WKU, packed up a U-Haul with all of his belongings and started a life in Bowling Green. A lot of things changed for Andrew in that year. While Andrew respected the choice of higher education, he decided it wasn’t for him at this time. After losing mostly everything, and learning a lot in the previous year, Andrew decided that there was no room for anything in life that didn’t make him happy. That’s where Cloud 9 hookah came in. Being a regular customer for months, Andrew then got the dream offer to join the crew at Cloud 9, and hasn’t looked back. Andrew found more than a job here at Cloud 9, he found a place where he felt at home. Andrew loves smoking Tangiers shisha, and Cane Mint and Absynthe are his favorite flavors. He has encyclopedic knowledge of The Lord of the Rings, and reads the trilogy once a year every year. He loves good food, good friends, and good beer. His favorite bands include Radiohead, Beck, and The Dear Hunter but some jazz always hits the spot. Andrew has a very intimate relationship with Netflix and loves a good TV show and movie (Game of Thrones and House of Cards being current favorites). He has made great friends, found a business he is passionate about, and a town that is like no other here in Bowling Green. “See you in the lounge!”
