Gov’t Mule have announced a series of Winter tour dates in support of their new album, Shout!. Gov’t Mule formed in 1994 as a side project of The Allman Brothers Band by singer-songwriter and guitarist Warren Haynes and bassist Allen Woody.
With 2 million paid song downloads through their site MuleTracks, numerous critically acclaimed studio records already released, a handful of DVDs and live albums, plus an ever-expanding fanbase and sold-out coast-to-coast tours, Gov’t Mule could easily rest on its laurels. Yet when you’re in one of the hardest working bands in rock history, pushing yourself to greater heights always supersedes cashing in on past successes.
Few bands have a reputation for making music as consistently honest, organic and daring as Gov’t Mule. The enduring group fronted by visionary singer-guitarist Warren Haynes returned with their first album in four years Shout!, a breath-taking, exploratory double-disc set. While the first disc is music from the band, the second disc features a guest list of famed interpreters Elvis Costello, Ben Harper, Dave Matthews, Grace Potter, Steve Winwood and more, who each delivered an alternate vocal performance of one of the first disc’s new Gov’t Mule tunes.
