COFFEE AWARENESS MONTH, DAY 2: K-CUPS SUCK.Got a single-serve machine? You may not realize how much you’re paying. This is an average priced package, found locally at Target, of 16 K-Cups. Do the math, and you’ll see you’re paying $32 per pound for this coffee (which, by the way, was likely roasted up to a year ago, then ground up and put into a non-recyclable cup). For literally half the price, you can get beans that are less than three weeks old — not to mention roasted just right and ethically sourced — and save the rest of your hard-earned money for something else.Want to know more about buying and brewing great coffee? It’s cheaper, and easier, than you think. Join us on at 1 p.m. this Saturday, Oct. 6, for free tastings of some of the world’s best coffees as Spencer’s owner Justin Shepherd walks you through the frugal fun of brewing fabulous coffee at home.
