This Thursday Bowling Green Pipe and Cigar’s Draft Night features Yakima Wheat Ale. A refreshing, hoppy wheat beer showcasing hops from Yakima Valley in Washington State. U.S. Challenger hops are used in the kettle, as well as in the dry hopping process, to create a mild toffee-like sweetness to the beer. The hop also lends a spiciness, similar to black pepper and juniper flavors. The balance between hops and the wheat and malt flavors creates a brew which finishes clean on the palate with a hearty hop bite.
Yakima Wheat Ale was born out of Schlafly’s close relationship with several hop farmers in Yakima Valley. One of these farmers grows U.S. Challenger, a hop that is traditionally grown in the UK. The hop was chosen for its connection to the UK, as well as its unique flavor and aroma.
The Bowling Green Homebrewer’s will also be having their April meeting that day starting at 6pm. Bowling Green Pipe and Cigar will be kicking the night off a little earlier with Schlafly Yakima.
They’ll be doing 16oz draft pours for $5 and will surely come up with a cigar special as well.
Don’t forget Gift Cards are available which is great for the person receiving as well. Check out Bowling Green Pipe and Cigar on facebook. Located at 434 East Main on fountain square you can reach them at 904-2285. Open Monday through Saturday 11:00 am-8:00 pm.
