So far 2011 has been a solid year for music. I’ve been inspired about every two weeks by a new album. This week features new music from Tony Toni Tone alum Raphael Saadiq, Warren Haynes with Government Mule, Felice Brothers, Black Label Society, Clutch and a very popular band from the 1990’s Verge Overkill. After his last solo Album Raphael Saadiq is back with his album ‘Stone Rollin’ and that it is. Raphael Saadiq’s prolific career includes touring with Prince as a teenager, recording with his hit trio from the 90s Tony! Toni! Tone!, producing music for the likes of Mary J. Blige, John Legend and D’Angelo and maintaining a solo effort. Taking a three year hiatus after releasing his Grammy-winning album The Way I See It, Saadiq is back with his latest effort Stone Rollin’.

Warren Haynes is one of Rolling Stone’s 25 greatest guitarists of all time. He’s played with The Allman Brothers Band, The Dead and his own group, Gov’t Mule. This month, Haynes releases his first solo album in 19 years, titled Man in Motion.

“Celebration, Florida,” the fourth album from the Felice Brothers, is a departure, but the place it departs to, unlike the town it’s named after, isn’t on any conventional map. The band simply decided to make the trip without thinking too much about where the journey might end. It’s different and unconventional, but in a good way.
