We Continue Buy Local Month 2018 Presented by BuyLocalBG.com! Here is the Third week of events.

Buy Local Month 2018 is a shopping, arts and entertainment event from November 15th- December 15th. We wanted to give southern Kentucky the chance to take those local dollars during the gift giving season and keep them local (meaning with local merchants in southern Kentucky, Louisville and Middle Tennessee since we know traveling does take place for these shopping trips). The key is to find the non-chain stores and shop the small to medium businesses in our area. We are also during this month via Facebook and Twitter going to give HYPER-LOCAL giveaways (via social media) with local artists and businesses. Here are the events through the Buy Local Month (click highlighted links for more):

Christmas Meal Deals by Local Restaurants:

December, 3rd  Monday-

  • Pet Photos with Santa at Greenwood Mall- Mondays from 5 PM – 8 PM (November 12 – December 17). Bring your pet (dogs and cats only, please) for a photo with Santa! Leave with an adorable pic to share with your friends & followers.

December, 4th  Tuesday-

  • Light Up A Life hosted by Hospice of Southern Kentucky– In honor or memory, please help us adorn our tree with names of loved ones that have touched our lives. A Christmas tree will be displayed at the Hospice House from November 22 through December 28. For each donation, a tag naming the honored loved one will be attached to the tree. As a special thank you for those who donate $30 or more, an ornament will be mailed.  The Christmas tree will be dedicated on December 4th at the Hospice House. Please RSVP to Mckinze Willard or Mareika Tisdale by December 1st if you plan to attend by calling 270-782-3402.

December, 5th  Wednesday-

  • Holidays on the Hill 2018– Brian St. John, Conductor. Featuring the WKU Symphonic Band, Dr. Gary Schallert, Conductor and the Southern Kentucky Choral Society. Join them for the annual concert celebrating the sounds of the season! The WKU Symphony is joined by the Southern Kentucky Choral Society and WKU Symphonic Band in selections of holiday music. December, 8th  Saturday-

  • Reindeer Encounter– Prancer, Santa, and Mrs. Claus are returning to Lost River Cave. Tickets are free and will be available online only. Tickets must be claimed online. Each registrant can claim up to 4 tickets. This is a free event for families in the community to get outside and make a holiday memory together. Claiming free tickets to this event with the intention of selling, raffling, or distributing for promotional purposes by a third party organization is prohibited without the consent of Lost River Cave.
  • Affordable Christmas: Forest Park Hosted by Hope House Ministries– Help us serve over 500 families from 20 schools in Warren County this Affordable Christmas! If you would like to volunteer with Affordable Christmas at Forest Park Baptist Church, please fill out the volunteer form at www.hopehousebg.com/forestpark. New, unwrapped toy donations may also be dropped off at this location until December 4.
  • A Keepsake Christmas Hosted by Holy Spirit Catholic Church– Please join Holy Spirit for A Keepsake Christmas! Families with children ages 4 and older Tickets $5/person available in church office. During this engaging, interactive program, families will hear a dramatic retelling of the Christmas stories from Mary, Joseph, and an angel how the amazing events unfolded on that first Christmas. Plus each guest will create his or her own Keepsake nativity scene to cherish for years to come. Breakfast will be generously sponsored by the Knights of Columbus!

  • Toys for Tots at Tidball’s– Tidball’s is hosting this wonderful Toys for Tots benefit! Let’s get those toys! Sleigher, Bowling Green’s only Christmas song cover band, will be spreading holiday cheer this season. We’ll be playing with our friends The Band Seek and Plastic Friends! Come deck the halls at Tidball’s! Doors at 9 – Music at 10ish. $5 cover – Bring a toy and get in FREE! All proceeds go to Toys for Tots.
  • Santa Fest & Santa at the Farm Hosted by Bare Creek Tree Farm– Come out and visit with Santa and Mrs. Clause
  • Candlelight Tour at Riverview at Hobson Grove– RaHG costumed docents will take you back in time to learn about Victorian Christmas traditions as you move throughout the Hobson House, beautifully lit by candles and antique lamps. This tour is free to the public, although donations are certainly appreciated! Parking will be at the bottom of the hill at the ballpark and golf course, with shuttles provided to Riverview.RaHG gift shop will be open and free refreshments will be provided to our guests.
