It’s a HUGE event for us coffee lovers in Bowling Green! The Ky-Tn Latte Art Throwdown is a special event put on by Justin Shepherd and his staff at Spencer’s Coffee to showcase the talents of Baristas from Kentucky and those to the south in the Volunteer State. From Spencer’s:

It’s back, and bigger than ever! Baristas from all over Kentucky and Tennessee will converge on the central location of Bowling Green, Ky., for the fifth annual Kentucky/Tennessee Latte Art Throwdown & Caffeination Celebration. Last year, we raised over $1,500 for the Center for Courageous Kids, a nonprofit camp in Scottsville, Ky., that serves children and families with all sorts of special needs.
The bracket for this year’s KYTN has been expanded to a madness-esque 64, and we’ll have two La Marzocco machines running full steam to keep the early rounds moving swiftly. Prizes packages for first through third places are still under construction, and will include a Baratza Virtuoso; rose gold Acaia Pearl; Levy Tamp and Shot Collar from Saint Anthony; Barista Magazine subscriptions; Mahlgut tamper from Prima Coffee; and many others TBA — there will also be drawings for second-chance prizes among competitors who don’t make the final three. We’ll have beer on tap, food available from local vendors, coffee from some of the region’s finest roasters, and much more.
Doors for the event will open at 5:30p Central time, with first pours starting at 6:30p. Buy-in for the throwdown is $10, and every single penny goes to the great work at CCK.
