1. Tell us a little about you. Where are you from, what are your hobbies and where did you start your career that led to the business? What is your earliest memory of your work, what got you interested in it?
I am a Bowling Green native and WKU graduate. Remodeling our first home in an older neighborhood and building furniture are my current obsessions. I love the journey of creating something! I like to see how things work!  I am a very curious person and am always traveling and wanting to learn new things.  I had a clothing store in Bowling Green many years ago then I went to work in a corporate environment and spent the last few years traveling the world and studying at FIT in NYC. I am permanently back in Bowling Green now married and settling in.
When i was traveling I really enjoyed seeing how many unique things there are in the world. I have always had a fascination with cultures and influences. I miss those shopping or “browsing trips” that spark your imagination. From the markets in Istanbul to a nice boutique row in San Francisco. I loved seeing things I knew people would enjoy as a treat or a gift.
We so easily can turn gift giving into a negative as a chore or duty or possibly a burden. I want to provide a place where you can find gifts that become a pleasure to give. This is the South:) Lets keep our manners 🙂
Some personal quality behind them. Something that doesn’t break the bank, isn’t traditional, and makes you feel good to give as well as receive! We rarely attend one holiday party, one graduation or only celebrate a single birthday.  A gift should come from your heart not your pocket book. We aim to provide gift items from $4 earrings you could give a coworker for a birthday gift to more rare and one of a kind housewarming / shower gifts. We want to bring back the art of gifting. Hostess / Thank you/ Thinking of you any occasion to help make someone feel special and thought of.  We also aim to provide unique items with our assortment of European antiques found by our friends in Athens and Parisian flea markets.

2. What is your favorite thing you sell?
One of the best parts of being the buyer is I get to pick everything out! I travel and meet vendors and pick out things based on the uniqueness or creativity of it. My current in store favorites are the Lollia bath products. The bubble baths are so luxurious and come in all shapes of wine bottles. The fragrances are great and I love the assortment. Our children’s items are so fun too! Its neat to see and hear about all the little shoppers loving the organic cotton blankets with cute characters like foxes and hedgehogs. The jewelry is fun too. such a variety and great prices its hard to leave work everyday without buying a piece myself.
I am really thrilled about our new shipment of Hunter boots coming in September. We have adult, children’s and toddlers coming! It will be fun because they will ALWAYS be 10% off on rain days. We have red for WKU, purple for BG, Green and of course the basics.

3. Who are your influences in life and your work?

God is my influence. I know it is the only thing constant and unwavering that influences me and gets me through all situations. I run my business with prayer for integrity, fairness and discernment. Being a business owner is tough, there are times anxiety and fear could lead to irrational actions, panic or desperation. I put my focus on God and work for his glory and ride the peaks and valleys knowing with him all things are possible.  God helps me see the bigger picture and not the immediate situations, one of the biggest things to focus on when owning a business.
4. If you had to choose a last meal, what would you eat?
I would want my last meal to be my typical Monday night date night meal with my husband! A jenny roll from Yuki sitting in the bar area talking with our friends and other Monday regulars.

5. How important is local business collaboration to you?
Local business collaboration is so important to me. My father is a small local business owner so I grew up seeing him serve the community with his medical supply company. He taught me early that you have to work together with others to accomplish things. I am so proud of the growth and community of Bowling Green businesses. Coming back here and seeing the growth of small business has been so amazing. I love all of our local restaurants and unique gift shops in town. We should all serve as a compliment to eachothers businesses. I don’t want to compete with anyone I want to see everyone succeed. With being a small local business I understand the importance and impact we can have on a community keeping things local. It is a win win for everyone and working together makes us stronger.
6. What do you see for the future of your business in Bowling Green and serving South Central Kentucky?
We hope to always be consistent. We want to be the place you can always find something in fair price points and for all occasions. Our goal is to grow our business model into the lifestyle concept that is so popular in Europe and West Coast shops. The brands we sell are consistent across all categories that fit your life, values, and style.
