Think Little CSA Week 23: Before..

That’s it. Well, most of it, about half of the plantable land we are leasing from the vantage point of one of the many holes in the face of our barn. It may not be much, but it’s start. Do what you can, with what you have, where you are, right?

As our campaign for a ‘Think Little Tractor’ continues, we’ve been planning and preparing for what we’re going to do. The seeds for our plot have already been started (we’re quite optimistic). The walk-behind will open many doors for us to expand not only our CSA, but our contribution to Hickory Lane Farm and HOTEL INC as well. For the first year, we plan on growing a variety of greens, fresh herbs, and flowers for our (all three CSAs) members. We’re also in the process of getting a commercial dehydrator to dry herbs and tomatoes for members throughout the Winter months for next year.

Campaign update: we blew by our first week’s goal of 20% by nearly 15 points. The middle of a crowd funding campaign, though, can be tough. So, many of our farm friends have come out in support. Hickory Lane Farm and Farm Fresh, but Already Fixed share our campaign often, Sweetgrass Granola is offering a discount for contributors (send them a message before you order), and Roughdraft Farmstead has something in the works (stay tuned). If you’re inclined to help, the easiest way to do so is to share our campaign with others, be it on Facebook, through email, or with a few people you see around today. There was also a great little article in the Bowling Green Daily News about it (link on our Facebook page), if you haven’t read it already.

Speaking of today, the week’s share will include: kale, Swiss chard, sauté greens mix, green onions (from Coleman Brothers Farm), radishes, onion, garlic, and possibly sweet potatoes.

Take care,
Jackson, Jordan, & Avery Rolett
