This month Community Farmers Market Bowling Green will have visiting vendors. This is a great time to share with local farmers from other regions and how they have bettered their community. This Saturday Pat & Marion’s Citrus Grove will be the guest. The following is from Scott Conley of Pat & Marion’s Citrus Grove:

I was born and raised in Ocala, Florida. I spent lots of my childhood working with my granddaddy at his house and at the orange grove. The grove froze in the mid 80s and he and I replanted in the late 80s and early 90s. The property itself is 31 acres and we have 13 acres in citrus with over 1300 trees. I left Florida in 2000 after I graduated from the University of Florida and moved to Bowling Green that summer.

I met my wife Cara in Bowling Green, who is from Arkansas later that year. I worked at Leichhardt Landscape Company doing design for about a year and then started my own landscape company in the summer of 2001. My granddaddy passed away in 2010 and we inherited the grove. We tore down the old fruit stand that was there and began construction on Pat and Marion’s in the fall of 2012. We then moved from Bowling Green to Ocala in the summer of 2013 and opened the store on September 6, 2013. (BTW the store history can be found at patandmarions.com)
We are tentatively planning on moving back to Bowling Green this summer to resume our landscape business full time and focus more on making Pat & Marion’s more of a seasonal store/destination in the winter months of the year (citrus season). We are very blessed and thankful to be able to provide fresh-picked citrus to our friends in Bowling Green thru the Community Farmers Market on Saturday January 10th. We also offer it through other venues in Bowling Green. Additional information about Marion & Groves can be found at patandmarions.com.
