When we first started Buy Local Bowling Green Brad and Brie Golliher were two of the first people on board. Well,it’s our turn to be on board with their new project. Brad and Brie have purchased the Boyce General Store in Alvaton. A popular general store to foodie types and those in the community. Of course The Country Side Food Rides has a great breakdown of the Boyce General Store:

“I love this place. The ladies at the store couldn’t be any friendlier and the food is a step above what I’ve found at other little country stores around here.”

We chatted with Brad to get the skinny:

“The Drakes Store up the road on highway 622 was up for auction a few weeks back and was sold. Brie and I decided to take a shot in the dark when we found out the store was up for sale. The owners options were sell it or close it down. Brie has been going to Boyce Store her entire life, her parents house is around the corner, so its sentimental and we would have hated to see it closed. So here we are! I left fruit (Fruit of the Loom) last Friday and took control of the store on Tuesday. Our plan is to get it some TLC and just improve on what’s already been established. All of our regulars are there every morning at 5am sharp for coffee and gossip. Biscuits and gravy, Boyce Burgers and fried bologna sandwiches are still on the menu. Brie plans to add baked goods (pies, cakes, cinnamon rolls, etc) and we may start serving BBQ as a daily special. Both of us being from a creative field, we have big dreams and a plan to establish the store as a south central Kentucky destination. Right now were taking one day at a time.”

We applaud them for helping keep the General Store tradition going. We’ll check them out soon enough (probably today) and report back. Tell us what you think. In the meantime, fan their page on facebook!
