Summer Camp Watch: String Explosion By Department of Music and WKU Continuing Education Pre-College String Development!

String Explosion! is a week-long day camp for  violin, viola, cello and double bass students ages four and up! The camp will be held in the Ivan Wilson Fine Arts Center on the campus of Western Kentucky University.

The camp will consist of two sessions:

  • Morning Camp will be for violin, viola and cello students using the Suzuki teaching method and is geared for children ages 4-7.
  • Afternoon Camp will be for violin, viola cello and double bass students in 4th through 12th grade.

of all skill levels.

The camp content will emphasize learning in an orchestra setting. Students will be divided into orchestras based on their level. They will gain skills and improve their playing through a variety of activities including string orchestra, sectionals, group classes and outdoor games. The final performance will be in the newly built Music Hall behind the Ivan Wilson Fine Arts Center.

The cost of the camp includes a camp t-shirt, music and instructor fees. Camp Coordinator: Ms. Sarah Berr and the camp will run from June 11th through 15th. Located on WKU’s campus at the Ivan Wilson Fine Arts Center and NEW Music Hall.
