Hats, Horses and The Derby will be held this Friday. Friday’s hours will extend until 7 p.m. with live music, sipping and tasting some of Kentucky’s finest foods and a trunk showing of several Kentucky crafts and jewelry. A special debut of Rainhill’s own “Van Gogh” Original Art will be on display and available for purchase. Yes, this horse has both ears missing.

“We are donating 25% of all the sales for these 2 days to help this deserving organization,” says Hoechner, “where else could you purchase an original “Van Gogh” and a fabulous Derby hat but at Barbara Stewart’s!”

The Kentucky Horse Council has an online neglect reporting form at
www.kentuckyhorse.org/skinny-horse/ which allows concerned citizens to report neglected horses.

Women are gathering at Barbara Stewart Interiors to purchase their beautiful elegant hats with an attitude. The proceeds will assist in caring for 62 horses at the Rainhill Equine Rescue and Sanctuary.

“This is our 2nd Annual event to raise money for a local horse rescue; and the Kentucky Derby is the perfect time to host this event, after all this is what the Kentucky Derby is about are the horses. The proceeds from the 2011 event assisted in expanding the barn, this year’s proceeds will assist in building paddocks and sheds. ” says Susan Hoechner, owner of Barbara Stewart Interiors.

Rainhill is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and operates solely on grants and donations. All contributions are tax deductable. “Every penny raised goes directly to the care of the horses, we provide a home for abused, disabled and unwanted horses” says Sandra Webb, volunteer and right hand to Thurman.
