The following is from the office of Dr. James Rynerson on the procedure known as “PRELEX.” Very cool stuff:
If you are over the age of 40 and want to reduce your dependence on reading glasses then PRELEX (Presbyopic Lens Exchange) may be the procedure for you.  Since the natural aging process causes the lens to harden and be less flexible over time making it difficult to focus on near objects we become dependent on reading glasses to see near and up close objects.  PRELEX is a surgery similar to cataract surgery, whereby the surgeon removes the natural lens and replaces it with a multifocal lens, often eliminating the need for glasses.

PRELEX is also an alternative to LASIK for patients with corneas too thin for LASIK, patients who have early cataracts, and patients with very high levels of farsightedness and nearsightedness.
The types of multifocal lenses available are ReSTOR, Rezoom and Technis and Toric.   To find out more information about each of these lenses please click below:
At Rynerson Vision Care in Bowling Green, they can arrange a consultation with Dr. Rynerson to help you determine if any of these procedures would be right for you. You will have the opportunity to ask questions, learn more about the benefits and risks of each procedure, and determine if you are a good candidate for the procedure. Located at 1901 Scottsville Road Bowling Green and a phone call away at (270) 393-0005.
