If you’re downtown Bowling Green we have our version of Mardi Gras with places like 440 Main and other establishments getting in the Mardi Gras spirit. Bowling Green sure does love a Mardi Gras party and we always hear, “Where can I get some good Beads?” Well, there is only one place in town to get REAL Mardi Gras beads and that’s at the one and only Party 1 Superstore.

“Don’t accept imitations.”

The beads are beautiful and a must for the Mardi Gras participant. There is also the babies they have for sale at the Party 1 Superstore. A baby for the “King Cake” is just a quarter per baby. If you’re asking, “What is a King Cake and why do you need a baby?”

The king cake of the New Orleans Mardi Gras tradition comes in a number of styles. The most simple, said to be the most traditional, is a ring of twisted bread similar to that used in brioche topped with icing or sugar, usually colored purple, green, and gold (the traditional Carnival colors) with food coloring. Cajun king cakes are traditionally deep-fat-fried as a doughnut would be, and there are many variants, some with a filling, the most common being cream cheese and praline.

It has become customary in the New Orleans culture that whoever finds the trinket must provide the next king cake or host the next Mardi Gras party.

Lastly, we have the Bourbon Street Style Mardi Gras masks. These iconic masks are available for you to purchase at ‘Party 1 Superstore.’ I suggest going a different route and grabbing a festive mask that would be worn on Halloween. Not to mention, this is a festival for excess and flashy dress. So, have fun with it and remember, “Laissez les bon temps roule.”
